Charities
As part of his testimonial year, Lewis is proud to support two charities close to his heart.
Love Musgrove, The Beacon Centre Fund
Love Musgrove is the official charity of Musgrove Park Hospital, working alongside Somerset NHS Charity and Yeovil Hospital Charity, to support Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and The Beacon Centre in their purpose-built cancer treatment centre. Through the Beacon Centre Fund, Love Musgrove supports the ongoing development of the space, specialist staff education, and initiatives that enhance the wellbeing and comfort of patients throughout their cancer journey.
“
Cancer is something far too familiar to us all, whether through someone we know, someone we love, or, devastatingly, something we face ourselves.
I very sadly lost my mum to this cruel disease in November 2024. While many well-known cancer charities do incredible work and raise vital funds for research and care, I have chosen to support Love Musgrove, and particularly The Beacon Centre Fund, because I have seen first-hand the difference the ward environment makes. It was the wards where my mum spent countless days, and it was the extraordinary kindness, care, and compassion shown by the staff there that had the greatest impact on her, and on us, during the most difficult time of our lives.
Their selflessness, expertise, and standard of care were second to none. If I can give something back to our local hospital to help improve services, enhance the environment, and support the incredible staff who work there, I know it will make a meaningful difference to another family facing a journey like ours.
”
As cricket’s leading charity, The Cricketers’ Trust supports the lifelong health and wellbeing of current and former professional cricketers and their families. The Trust provides vital assistance during playing careers and long after retirement, including medical funding, crisis support and personal development programmes, ensuring help is available whenever it is needed most.
Cricketers’ trust
“
As the Cricketers’ Trust so perfectly puts it, “The game doesn’t end with the final ball,” and there are few truer words.
So much of a cricketer’s life is shaped not just by what happens on the field, but by what unfolds away from it. Having a charity that offers unwavering, lifelong support to current and former players, as well as their families, no matter the hardship, is an absolute privilege.
Hardship and struggle can arrive in an instant or develop quietly over time, and I have seen firsthand the profound difference the Trust has made to many cricketers, many of whom I have played alongside and call friends. While I hope I never need to rely on its support myself, knowing it is there for me and my family for life is deeply reassuring. I am proud to support the Trust’s future and the vital, life-changing work it does in helping players rebuild, recover, and move forward and I urge everyone to read for themselves, the difference this charity is making.
